2009 TRIP DESCRIPTIONS
HONDURAS, JANUARY 6-13
This trip will be in partnership with the Church of God child sponsorship program, Children of Promise. The group will be doing home visits and providing a Vacation Bible School-type program for sponsored children. The group will be doing work projects at the church in San Pedro Sula. Short home stays are likely.
MYANMAR/THAILAND, MAY 11-28
This trip will include participation in a youth leadership training event in Yangon, Myanmar. Students will be expected to join in with the Burmese youth in the conference. The group will be presenting various sessions during the conference. The trip will also include an intense observation and conversation about Buddhism. It is possible that the group might participate in some minimal relief and development work.
SOUTH DAKOTA, MAY 11-25
This trip will involve community outreach and work projects on the Lokota Reservation and at individual homes. The group will be responsible for two worship services (music and preaching) for Sunday morning and evening and one Wednesday evening service. Opportunities are available for Education majors to provide service in the American Horse Elementary School and for Communication majors to work a day at KILI radio station, The Voice of the Lakota Nation. This trip will likely include a trip to Badlands National Park.
